Den Responsibilities For Pack Meetings

This is the time when the whole Pack gets together to share what they have been doing all month in their own dens.  All Cub Scouts should attend with at least one family member.  Pack Meetings are held one Wednesday per month.

What to bring:

  • Scouts wear their Cub Scout uniform shirt including neckerchief.
  • Your recent crafts, den projects, etc. for display at the Den’s Display Table.
  • Cookies (if your den is on Hospitality Committee).

Other helpful things for parents to bring include:  A folder to collect handouts; your calendar, a checkbook, and a camera!

Each Den participates in some way – All scouts should know what their den is responsible for before the Meeting begins:

Hospitality (Welcoming Committee)

This den will bring the cookies plus be responsible for hospitality during the meeting.  These Scouts and parents should try to arrive 15-20 minutes early.

  • Drop off food in the kitchen area.  A few parents from this group should remain in the kitchen to set up and serve the snack.
  • Set up chairs for the Meeting.  Assist with setting up the microphone.
  • This den will be the “Greeters”.  They can have fun welcoming each scout as they arrive with the special Cub Scout handshake!  Help new Scouts by showing them where to hang their coats and boots, and where their den display table is and where to sit with their Den.
  • Before snack begins, scouts from this den will lead or say the Prayer.

Ceremony

This den is responsible for the Opening/Flag ceremonies and leading the Scout Promise.

  • The Den leader will assign each Scout a role, i.e. someone to lead The Pledge, the Cub Scout Promise, or speaking parts in the various opening ceremonies.
  • Scouts should come prepared by knowing their role and/or their lines.

Entertainment/Demonstration

This den will prepare a skit, sing-a-long, or demonstrate a new skill or craft they have worked on in their den.  This is a sharing opportunity lasting 5 to 10 minutes.

Clean up Committee

These scouts and parents should plan to stay an extra 15 minutes after the meeting.

  • Make sure all chairs and tables are put back in place.  Put microphone away. Wipe tables and chairs, empty trash, turn out lights, etc.

Remember, Cub Scouting is about the kids
"For the Scouts to do their best!"  We must do our best too.

Safety of the Scouts is very important to the Pack. This site is intended for Pack members and their families to stay informed and share ideas.
